Last week at Pearland High School, Brazosport FFA students competed at the District VI FFA Convention. Three students earned award banners and one will continue on to the next round of area competition.

Merry Wallace earned 2nd place in the Extemporaneous Speaking category. This category is unique because the student is given a topic at the start of the competition and has 30 minutes to prepare for a 5 minute delivery.  She will compete at the Area 3 FFA Contest on May 11th at Blinn College in Brenham, TX.

Also receiving a fifth place banner was Caitlyn Freshour for her Senior Prepared Speaking, National Resources division. Her topic for the speech was Solar Energy. Amber Robles placed 5th in the talent division for her solo singing performance. Additional officers and members attended to assist and serve as voting delegates.

The District VI FFA Association includes 25 other chapters from high school FFA programs within the coastal region. The Area 3 FFA Association encompasses 20 counties and over 20,000 members.
