Malie Inoissejean can now claim to be the best in the state after being named first chair trumpet in the Association of Texas Small School Band (ATSSB) All-State Jazz Band. He competed for a place in the All-Region Jazz Band on September 24th and as one of the top 3 trumpets in the competition got to advance and record his audition for the elite state honor. On October 30th, the judges chose Malie as the first chair trumpet to the All-State Jazz Band. There were a few hundred participants from the start of the process, 50 that advanced to area, and 5 selected to the All-State Jazz Band.
This is the 2nd year for Malie to make the All-State Jazz Band.The All-State Jazz ensemble will perform in February at the Texas Music Educators’ Convention in San Antonio.
