Brazosport faculty members Rhonda Viola Church, April Reck, Philip Kelso and Brandy Barrett along with AP Art student and UIL State Finalist in Design Audrey Cuellar presented two technology-based workshops at the EdTech 17 Conference. The annual EdTech Conference was hosted by Texas State University on April 22, 2017.
The theme for this year’s conference was Confer, Collaborate, Change (C3) and the following symposiums were taught by our BISD educators:
Symposium: Art & Technology-Purposeful Passion
Topic Summary-Join an art/technology teacher presenting research and implementation of emerging technologies and discuss the utility of VR (Virtual Reality) technology integration in K-12 classrooms. Participants gain hands-on experience with
technologies. Lesson plans/resources provided.
Symposium: Immerse Students in STEAM - Dive in to Arduino
Topic Summary-Join this symposium to explores projects utilizing an open source platform (hardware & software) to address economic barriers to technology in the classroom. Participants can gain hands-on experience with Arduino (Uno, Mega, Micro & Nano) & a variety of sensors and shields. Arduino applications and events will be discussed.
Additionally, Rhonda Viola Church presented her Master’s Thesis (an Eportfolio) for completion of requirements for her Master’s in Educational Technology. Mrs Church is graduating on May 12, 2017 at Texas State University-San Marcos, Texas.
