Brazosport Shines Bright at the District Track and Field Meet

At the end of the District 25- 4A Track and Field Meet at Bulldog Stadium in Sweeny, nearly the entire team of Lady Ships punched their ticket to the Area Meet. The top 4 in each event qualified to move on to the Area competition at Rockport Fulton.

Please help us congratulate the following students:

Knavia Goins placed first in the long jump and high jump.

Aja Goins placed first in the shot put and second in the discus.

Jerrille Shadden placed third in the shot put and fourth in the discus.

Megan Ferrell took first place in the 1,600 meter race and second place in the 3,200 and 800 meter competition.

Tr’Chelle Harkless placed 3rd in 200 meter race.

The relay team of Tr’Chelle Harkless, Jacelyn VanDyke, Tyanna Nichols and Knavia Goins qualified with their second place finish in both the 400 and 800 meter races.

Coach Donnell Johnson said of Knavia Goins, “She took home District MVP and she alone had 28 points… She was all-around great.”

The Exporter boys team qualified twelve athletes to Area.

DJ Jones placed second in high jump.

Devin Escamilla placed second in pole vault.

Pedro Rios placed third in pole vault.

The 400 meter relay team of Deontae Watkins, Pablo Marin, Da’Vaughn Davidson and Justen Cunningham took first place.

Paul Woodard, Pablo Marin, Da’Vaughn Davidson, Deontae Watkins placed third in the 800 meter relay.

The team of Jerius Flannel, Matthew Cunningham, Pablo Marin and Pedro Rios placed fourth in the 1,600 meter relay.

Justen Cunningham placed first in the 400 meter race.

Matthew Cunningham placed 3rd in 300 meter hurdles.

David Gomez placed fourth in the 800 meter race.

Pedro Rios placed third in the 110 hurdles.

Deontae Watkins placed third in the 200 meter race.
